NC Counts Healthier Together
COVID-19 has and continues to impact our lives and the lives of our families , friends and businesses. Working with our partners and health providers throughout North Carolina our aim is to reach out to parents and hard to reach individuals to inform them about getting their children and love ones vaccinated. In addition, to giving them outreach information which will aid them in identifying locations where the can receive services. Our program will end on 2/28/2022.

COVID 19 has had a major impact on the lives of thousands of youth, families and seniors. The isolation and lack of personal interaction combined with limited financial resources has increased anxiety and stress. Please join us at the Cornerstone for this fun filled day of Community health education and resources!
FEMA provides financial assistance under the Other Needs Assistance (ONA) provision of the Individuals and Households Program (IHP) to individuals and households with disaster-related funeral expenses. Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021, and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, FEMA will provide financial assistance for funeral costs specifically related to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) for funeral expenses at 100 percent federal cost share.
REQUIREMENTS A. FUNERAL ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION All Funeral Assistance for COVID-19 related fatalities will be administered under the ONA FEMA Option. 1. To ensure consistent and timely implementation, all Funeral Assistance for COVID19 related fatalities will be administered under the ONA FEMA Option where FEMA administers the program. 2. Eligible funeral expenses incurred by the applicant will be provided at 100 percent federal funding of costs. 3. Funeral Assistance may be provided when the death is attributed to COVID-19 in the state, territory, or tribe, (hereinafter referred to as STT), in which the death occurred, as indicated on the death certificate. The applicant’s registration will be associated with the major disaster declaration for the State or Territory in which the death occurred. a. Tribal members may apply and receive assistance under the applicable state or territory declaration. No agreement between the tribal government and state or territory is required by FEMA in order for tribal members to receive assistance. 4. All registrations for Funeral Assistance will be completed via FEMA’s telephone or teletypewriter call center capabilities. No online registrations will be accepted.

As many of you know, the CDC’s federal eviction moratorium, NC eviction protections, and state and local rental assistance initiatives funded by the CARES Act expires on December 31, 2020. North Carolinians will face an unprecedented housing crisis in the middle of winter and a worsening pandemic. This may affect you and your family!
In keeping with our commitment of supporting you when you need assistance, the Cornerstone CDC in partnership with Blueprint Inc will be making a grant payment of rent support for those who qualify. The assistance is a direct cash payment to landlords and banks in order to mitigate the harm of the impending housing crisis in the coming weeks.
Funds are limited and will be used to assist as many families as possible. If you have fallen behind on you rent, mortgage please contact Darlene Leysath, Executive Director; 910-214-6379 Funds will be allocated for those most in need seniors, veterans and disabled and unemployed!
The signed documents are signed by three persons, the recipient of the funds, the issuer of the funds and a witness to the transaction. All actions are in strict compliance with Cares Act requirements.

In the past several years, we have helped thousands of families and individuals through our programs and partnerships. When hurricanes hit Duplin County, we were there! When COVID-19 forced the community to shutdown, we were there! Your contribution and donations enable us to help others, that need a hand!
The Cornerstone CDC (Community Development Corporation) serves as a Center for Long-Term Recovery in Duplin County, North Carolina.
The Cornerstone Long-Term Recovery Group is a collaborative partnership of public, private and government agencies working together to address the unmet needs of the residents of Duplin County who are impacted by floods and disaster; such as Hurricane Florence in 2018 and Hurricane Dorian in 2019!
We are an information and support center for disaster recovery services for Duplin and the surrounding Counties and we work with FEMA, Red Cross, Churches and local volunteers to get the resources out to the people who need them..
Our role is to assist families and individuals with meeting the unmet need long after the disaster has passed. This may be food, medical supplies, clothing, shelter, blankets, personal items and emergency gift card. The impact of Tropical Storm Florence on individuals, children, elderly and families is long-term, many have lost everything, We help provide the support they need for a quick recovery.

They are able to remove trees, drywall, insulation, flooring, Furniture, appliances, trap roofs etc. the hotline CANNOT assist with food, clothing, shelter, Insurance, or questions about FEMA. AMERICROPS volunteers arrived in Duplin to assist. Details on how to contact them will be posted.
